The activities department comprises of Games and Sports, Clubs and Societies in the School. Meru
School offers its students opportunities to play various sports and join teams that participate in
various tournaments. The trainings are on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:30p.m. –
5:30p.m and on Weekends. The Sports include; Basketball, Hockey, Handball, Soccer, Volleyball,
Swimming, Badminton, Table tennis, Dats and Chess.
BASKETBALL
The school has a basketball team known as the Hustlaz. The school has represented the Eastern
Region over the years, recent being in 2018 where it emerged position 4 (four) during the K.S.S.S.A
national term 1A ballgames.
HOCKEY
The hockey team popularly known as the Vikings has had a sterling performance for a number of
years. The school has featured consistently of national championships since 2010, save for 2013,
2014 and 2015. It came back to the limelight in 2016 and has constantly represented the Eastern
Region since then. In 2019 it was the 2 nd runners up at the K.S.S.S.A (Kenya Secondary Schools
Sports Association). National term 1 ballgames held in Mombasa in August 2019, it represented the
country in the East African Championships FEASSA games in Arusha – Tanzania where it emerged
position five (5) overall.
RUGBY
Popularly known as Masura, the team has always been feared across the region for its tactical
display in the field. It has been representing Meru County in the regional competitions.
HANDBALL
The school team has done excellently, the pioneers of the team are currently studying in Strathmore
University under scholarship and keeps on shining in the face of the country.
CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
There are thirteen (13) Clubs in the school and four (4) Societies, including Wildlife Club,
Geography Club, Journalism Club, East African Community (EAC) Club, Kiswahili Club, Drama
Club, and Music Club, Presidential Award Club, Red Cross Club and St. John’s Ambulance Club.
MATHEMATICS CLUB
This is the most admired academic club in the school. It hosts the champions and the cream of the
school, always good in time management, well organized and shine in all the competitions they
participate. In 2019, a F 3 Ibra Sanqe was a full year scholarship for his form four school fees and
Lewis Njeri F 4 diploma scholarship by Brookside during the Annual Brookside Mathlete
competitions. The school has always been at the top in mathematics contests nationally.

SCIENCE CONGRESS
The school has a Science Congress team and is currently received 2nd runners up boys’ school in
Kenya.
WILDLIFE
It has been the longest club in existence active in school activities. It turned Meru School into a
small forest the beauty and Aesthetic valve in the compound is attributed to this club.
JOURNALISM
The club has active members in the school which have always updated the rest of the school on the
current affairs and make the school assemblies lively.
